I am a hard worker who enjoys a challenge and the chance to learn in a work environment. Throughout my career I have taken pride in my work and my ability to be a team player, as well as a leader. I look forward to the next stage by growing in knowledge and experience.
As a order fulfillment associate I was the top performing puller, pulling the most orders on the team in the fastest time. These orders included basic 1-2 item orders up to and including large lumber packages. I would bag, box, palletize, stack and band orders as needed for convenient customer pick-up or delivery. I would use forklift, reach truck, platform lift, electric ladder and electric pallet jack to facilitate completion of orders and deliveries. I routinely lifted lumber, 80-100 lb bagged concrete products and other heavy product during the course of the day and walked an average of 10 miles a day. I monitored our holding area for completed or cancelled items and removed or restaged them as needed. I called customers to provide updates on problematic orders or changes to orders, swapping or cancelling items as instructed. I backed up the Service Desk as needed, directing customers to product, answering phone calls, manning a register and retrieving/loading orders for customer pick-up. This job required a self starter who could see what tasks needed to be done and do them efficiently without continual prompting. It also required thinking outside the box to accomplish some tasks. I was also the trainer for new pullers.
As supervisor I was in charge of 4 - 6 people in a crew. I oversaw the work at jobsites, directed team members, reviewed schematics and worked with clients to ensure proper maintenance to improve the appearance of residential and business landscapes. As a company we handled general maintenance, color installations, new installations, chemical applications, sod placement and plant knowledge. This job required walking, digging, small equipment use (gas trimmers, blowers, etc), lifting and team work with some truck/trailer driving.
I started with Twitty Nursery as a nursery yard salesman, used plant knowledge to assist customers in purchasing the proper plants for their particular needs. In some cases helping create a design that enhanced their property's appearance. After a short period I was placed on the landscape crew where my duties included trimming trees and shrubbery, transplanting trees (ball and burlap) on farm and also customer landscapes, tearing out and installing new landscapes, driving tractor with bucket. I was then promoted to supervisor, where I oversaw 2-3 crew members. I worked directly with customers to maintain their landscape needs such as designing and bidding, tear out and new installations, natural rock patio design and installation.
I used my plant knowledge and background as a lawn maintenance worker to help customers choose and identify the right plants for their project. Prepared houseplants for delivery.
I began my landscaping journey as a lawn maintenance tech where my duties included:
- using power equipment - push /riding mowers, weedeaters, trimmers, blowers and Billy Goat (outdoor vacuum)
- trimming shrubs, hedges and trees
- identifying and removing weeds
- installing color and mulch
- chemical spraying
- lawn fertilizer application
- lawn aeration
- indoor plant watering and pruning
While at this job I worked with two certified horticulturalists who recognized my interest in obtaining plant knowledge and they began to teach me about the various plants. After a couple years I was promoted to supervisor where I had 1-2 crew members and continued in lawn maintenance.
