Provide counseling to a diverse student population who are academically and/or economically disadvantaged. Counseling a variety of disproportionately impacted students to make effective decisions in pursuit of their academic, career, and personal goals; keep abreast of changing degree, certificate, transfer and EOPS information in order to advise students about the most current requirements. Lead group advising and facilitated workshops on CSU and UC applications.
Increase success in college, career and life by obtaining skills, techniques and attitudes necessary to reach personal goals. Explore personality, interests, skills and values to increase self-awareness and select appropriate major and career. Topics include: educational planning and transfer strategies, career trends, motivation and learning styles, principles of
learning and memory, critical and creative thinking, research strategies, note-taking, subject-specific study techniques, wellness, time and stress management, diversity, textbook study methods.
