Summary

I am applying for the position of Field Supervisor in the Waste Water Collections Department. If I were to become Field Supervisor I would run things like it were my own business. That means I would push my employees to do their best. I would accomplish this by making sure they have the tools & knowledge they need to do their job efficiently & successfully. I would never ask my employees to do something I haven't done or wouldn't do myself. I will make it my goal to keep my employees safe & stand up for them if they are in the right. I want to learn better ways to do things& keep up with technology & keep my employees up with technology also. There are many things that I will need to learn as Field Supervisor, but I look forward to learning them & I know I can learn them in a timely manner. It will benefit the City & this Department if I were to get this job as Field Supervisor. I am willing to further my education if it will benefit the City. I feel that I can do an excellent job as Field Supervisor. I will work hard to motivate my employees to do a great job as well. Each employee is different & needs different ways of motivation. I will work hard to find out what motivates them.

I believe I should be Field Supervisor because I know the sewer system & City Works extremely well & also no one knows more about the flushing trucks than I do. I answer questions all the time from the on-call crew after hours, even when I'm not on-call. I am a quick learner. I have seen this system change & I have changed along with it. I always work late when needed & I have done every job in this department, including Field Supervisor when needed, without the pay. I know the rules of the City better than anyone & I follow those rules. I have a good relationship with the employees, the contractors, the engineers, & the sales people. I can train & have trained a lot of the employees here. I have worked with almost every department at the City & have done an excellent job at it. Other departments call me all the time when they need help or when they just have a question. And I answer their questions without needing help from anyone. I can fix flushing trucks & equipment without help from anyone. The guys at work call me when they can't figure something out. I am someone that can be trusted with anything. I will continue to push the employees to do a better job & change with the City. Without change you get left behind. I have done walk thrus on construction jobs& I know what's needed to pass & what's needed to to be fixed in order to pass inspection. I will stand up to the contractors & make them fix it until the job is right. I know my job on the flushing truck plus everybody else's job. I know how to talk to the customers when there is no Field Supervisor around. I have worked around a lot of different kinds of utilities, I have worked for an electric company, county road & bridge, streets & water department. This could help me as a Field Supervisor, it is good to have knowledge in all types of areas.
