I would just like the opportunity to help the student athletes achieve success on the court while helping them become better players on the court, and better people off the court. I believe in building fundamentals offensively and defensively, discipline, and great conditioning. I would like to build off what Jon has already instilled in this group of players. But I would like to get back to playing man to man defense. Something Siren hasn't done in years while still being able to play the zones and specialty defenses when needed. Teaching them the concepts of playing great man to man defense only strengthens the zone defenses. Offensively I would concentrate more on player development and skills while finding a more free flowing offense that gives players the ability to be basketball players rather than just fitting into a system or an offense that has very distinct rules and positioning. I also want to help with the declining interest in basketball. Basketball competes with wrestling and hockey 2 sports that kids are allowed to start playing at a younger age than basketball. I think this plus kids being less active and into video games is a factor in the numbers declining. If this trend continues I see the possibility of having to co-op with another school just to field a team. I think if we can get them started at a younger age, while also giving them some kind of Siren team merchandise(all kids love showing off they are part of a team), and making basketball fun while also showing them some basic fundamentals would help out a lot I think. I also think we need to reach out and get the parents more interested and involved with the younger ages. I really think it takes a whole community to help have a successful program. Lastly I would really like to help Siren win a regional championship something that the Boy's program hasn't ever done.
