I have been with Turning Sun School since May of 2014. Since the beginning of my employment journey I have held the positions of Lead Educator, Multi-Classroom Educator, Mentor Educator, Curriculum Coordinator, Environmental Educator, Atelierista, and Summer Camp Director. I have been in leadership since 2017 with Turning Sun, a Reggio Emilia inspired, collaborative learning preschool in Atlanta, GA. We are proud to be a part of the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance and Georgia’s Farm to Preschool movement, State of GA/DECAL certified.
In my current role, I observe and document the student's interests within the classroom and collaborate with educators to create an inquiry based, individualized curriculum. I work to connect our classroom learning experiences with the greater community of Atlanta by inviting experts to work alongside the children and making the children's work, ideas, and contributions visible throughout our city by planning relevant excursions. I support and advocate for play as the greatest means of learning for children. I support a strong image of the child as capable citizens of our community and world. I continuously investigate, research, and expand my knowledge on subjects pertaining to child development and education. I work to educate the whole child by focusing on social, emotional, and physical development.
