I love the arts and they have played a role in my life since I was a child. I believe they are essential for kids to experience. It would be an honor to use my background experience of working in the arts, and producing art to provide opportunities for kids to create.
I am in charge of leading a program targeted for senior adults. This includes monthly luncheons, visits to community businesses, planning activities, overseeing groups, Visitation Team, a grief support group, and budgets for various ministries. I am the staff liaison for the Health Ministry Team helping them with their events. I also assist my supervisor with Women's Ministry and some Children's Ministry Events.
This job is 8-12 hours per week and the hours are flexible with a few exceptions.
I assisted the Director with visual art classes, the art committee meetings, exhibits and any other duties assigned. After the birth of my first son, I worked in the Gift Shop on the weekends and curated some art shows from home.
When we first moved to Grand Junction I worked with a temp agency and then found AmeriCorps. They are a service based organization that places people in their organization with companies or non profits based on their chapter's focus. Grand Junction had a focus of kids. I was first placed as a Kindergarten assistant at Independence Academy and then to help with art programs at The Art Center of Western Colorado.
I worked at the City of Fort Collin's Lincoln Center, It is a Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Conference Facility. I assisted with exhibits in the three rotational galleries, an annual fundraiser called ArtWear, prepared and assisted at the art exhibit committee meetings, and any other duties assigned. My supervisor was also in charge of the city's Art in Public Places program. Along with another assistant I would help out as needed with this program as well. This was a contracted, full times position through the city. I left when my husband and I moved to Grand Junction.
