Responsible for teaching a full course load of 15 credit hours in the field of Surgical Technology, enhancing student understanding of both theoretical and practical components of the curriculum.
Regularly monitor and evaluate student clinical rotations through effective communication with clinical preceptors and site supervisors, ensuring adherence to program standards, and fostering a supportive learning environment.
Coordinate the development, implementation, and revision of curricula, textbooks, and course content to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare industry, aligning educational offerings with institutional goals.
Maintain accurate program records by established deadlines, ensuring compliance with institutional standards.
Engage in professional development, and contribute to curricular enhancements, institutional governance, and mentoring of part-time faculty to promote academic excellence.
Provide academic advising to students, addressing their educational and career goals, while fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Prepare students to sit for the NCCT certification exam.
Conduct yearly program assessments.
Set up and maintain equipment for the program.
Following approval from the department chair and VPAA, orders any needed equipment for the program.
Write and secure grants for students to help with travel expenses for clinical rotations.
Successfully establish three new clinical sites for students. Artesia General Hospital, Advanced Heart and Vascular Center - Carlsbad, Roswell Surgery Center.
Coordinate certification exam processes for the Surgical Technology program.
Update the Surgical Tech student handbook.
