Custodian

USPHS Indian Hospital
08.2007 - Current
  • I am currently employed at the Whiteriver Indian Hospital in the housekeeping department. I have been here eight years and I enjoy my job especially the patient interaction. I love having conversations with patients while I clean their room because they really appreciate the company. And I believe a clean hospital is key to a quick recovery. Cleanliness of the facility is a top priority in the health field. I take pride in my work and I go above and beyond to make sure my areas are as clean as can be and also sanitized. I have assisted in cleaning all areas and departments of the hospital. I follow proper hospital techniques when cleaning in contaminated and isolation rooms. I can also scrub, strip, wax and buff floors. I have knowledge of all cleaning supplies and heavy industrial equipment and their uses. I sometimes supervise other employees, schedule the daily assignments and write daily notations. I have previously done inventory of housekeeping and linen supplies. I work to the best of my abilities and assist whenever possible. The past two years the housekeeping staff have been assigned to work in the linen department, fulfilling the laundry workers duties. I am pleased to say I, myself have had my fair share of handling the responsibilities of the laundry worker. I took on the initiative of moving around all the shelves in the linen room to better accommodate the room itself and the fire regulations. I know how important it is to be punctual, I can work independently and keep myself busy. I like to stay a step ahead in all my assignments and show my work etiquette in everything that I do. I have washed, sorted, folded, labeled, ordered and distributed linens to all departments on a daily basis. I believe having quality linens available, on hand at all times is crucial to have a good outcome to the patients and the workers themselves.
