I was a dedicated Senior Corrections Officer / Licensed Peace Officer. I worked hard and give 100% everyday. I was responsible for the safety and security of inmates and fellow officers. I was an FTO for one of the building I was assigned to and preformed the job to the best of my abilities. I decided to get my Peace Officers license and completed the course through Travis County. I retired in January 2020. After Retiring I realized I was not really ready to retire and took a job at Home Depot as Asset Protections. After a year I had brought the store shrink levels down to an acceptable level. Rather then moving to a different store I made the decision to stay at the store and become an associate. I continued to work as an associate until the manager offered me a position in the newly opened tool rental section. During that time I decided that I would like to get my real estate license and look at getting into property management. I currently still hold my license and work with my wife when she needs any help with clients . In 2023 I decided to get my notary certificate to broaden knowledge base.
I am very community oriented. I was a Sunday school teacher for the Lakeway Church and my wife and I continue to volunteer most Sundays at Church. I enjoy helping others in the community and like to give back every chance that is presented to me.
I was hired in 1994 as a corrections officer with Travis County Sheriff's Office.
I am responsible for the safety and security of inmates and officers in the Travis County Correctional complex. I worked in Central Booking approximately 18 years. I learned all positions from the arresting of a person and filling out all related paperwork and booking them into jail, fingerprinting, running warrants, setting up court settings for arrestees to be taken before the judge at magistration, and releasing inmates once their time was served.
I attended C.O.D.E.S. in 2000 and worked off duty jobs. At this time I work with the Prerelease Parolee Program which is designed to prepare Texas Offenders to be reintroduced to society in the hopes that they do not commit the criminal acts again that brought them into custody.
I have been with Travis County for over 25 years. In that time I have worked with everything from Mental Health inmates in the correctional setting to inmates that were headed to death row. I have always dealt with each case or individual with respect and dignity.
On August 11th of 1994 I started my career in Work Release where I was responsible for their safety and security, taking money for their fines and or court cost, searching the work release inmate when they returned in the evening, and making sure they were provided for in accordance with Texas Jail Standards, and Travis County Policy.
I moved to Central Booking after approximately 3 years where I learned all aspects of the job. I leaned to read and write affidavits, fill out booking forms, search all people brought into our custody, enter all information in the the computer system, screen all arrestees for mental health and medical conditions, take arrestees fingerprints, set up magistration rosters, take them to see the judge and get the arrestees magistrated, take their property and house them. I also worked in the Bonding office where I would run warrants on people and make arrest. In November of 2017 I moved from Central Booking to work the floor again. While assigned to the building my supervisors ask me if I would be interested in becoming a Field Training Officer. I accepted the position and began training other officers and keeping up with the training logs. In 2019 I was ask if I would be interested in working with the Prerelease Parolees. I accepted the position and began working with sex offenders that had just gotten out of prison. My thought logic was that they were going to be getting out of prison and there was nothing that was going to prevent it from happening. So I decided that I could be part of the process and hopefully could help them avoid committing the same crimes again that lead them to being placed in prison in the first place.( I wanted to be part of the solution) I have decided to retire from Travis county and would like to work for Lakeway Police department because I feel that the Lakeway Police department is held as a standard throughout Texas. It is community service driven and very proactive when it come to crime deterrent. I have always been impressed by the professionalism that is shown to all citizens in Lakeway and the respect that is given by the community towards the Police Officers.
