I'm a strong willed person with big dreams. As a first generation college student and a product of welfare and the foster system; my success defies the odds set against me, and I only plan to keep achieving.
I got a late start to my education due to my home situation, but I was determined to not let my challenges define nor restrict me. I enrolled in high school at 16 in rural Virginia after being taken into custody by the state. Setting lofty goals and diving head first into my education, I graduated with honors at 18 after completing my degree.
Taking advantage of my free college applications, I applied to nineteen colleges and received acceptance letters from 14, including Penn State, UVA, Massachusetts college of Medicine and Pharmacology, and Charles Drew University of Medicine. Included in these acceptances was a scholarship of $87,000 from my top choice school, George Washington University.
Currently attending GWU, I am pursuing dual degrees in Public Health and Political Science, as well as a minor in peace studies.
