KC-135 IDM Block Updates

Used Arbortext, UltraEdit, IsoDraw, Illustrator, and Photoshop to update United States Airforce manuals to revision status with requested changes by the field, engineers, and Equipment Specialists. Revised manuals were delivered on a four month schedule to be updated on the US Airforce electronic system. Updated wiring diagrams and wire lists for the KC-135.

Revised manuals were delivered quarterly for dissemination to the proper countries (France, Turkey, Chile, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia).

Used Arbortext and InDesign, with the help of MIL-STD-38784, to aid the 555th Software Maintenance Group and the 76th SMXG in creating current and up-to-date manuals for field and "back-shop" users. Working closely with engineers and programmers, developed user manuals for the Pacer Comet 4 Field Unit. Updated user data using ASM Y14.38 to bring the manuals created, and abbreviations and acronyms used, up to the engineering standard.

Block-45 (KC-135)

Used Arbortext, UltraEdit, IsoDraw, Illustrator, and Photoshop to update KC-135 manuals to allow the integration of the Block 45 Wiring Overhaul. Adjusted text, drew new illustrations, and wrote new chapters to be added to the maintenance manuals for the KC-145 Airframe. Delivery was made on time even though a shortened schedule was applied.

Suite Updates

Updates to the software system on the A-10C weapon system facilitated changing manuals. Used Arbortext and IsoDraw to incorporate changes to existing manuals and to create new manuals from engineering drawings and technical data. Worked closely with pilots, programmers, avionics engineers, mechanical engineers and weapon specialists at Hill AFB to seamlessly integrate the updates to the field.

AAR-47-CMS (A-10)

Update to the missile warning system on the A-10C weapon system. Used Arbortext and Isodraw to add text and illustrations to maintenance and flight manuals to help maintainers and pilots navigate this complicated system.

OBOGS

Update to the life support system (OBOGS or On-Board Oxygen Generation System) on the A-10A/C weapon system. Used Arbortext and Isodraw to add new text and drawings to maintenance manuals, as well as IPB's (Illustrated Parts Breakdowns), to aid maintainers in supporting this system.

SADL BLOS

(5 months) Large update to the Targeting (SADL or Situational Awareness Data Link) and Line of Sight (BLOS or Beyond Line Of Sight) systems. Used Arbortext and Isodraw to help bring the A-10 into future and secure its place in the arsenal of the United States Airforce by updating text and illustrations in maintenance manuals, flight manuals, and IPB's to allow maintainers and pilots to effectively use this system.

AN/ARC-210 (A-10)

(6 months) Update to the Radio Systems on the A-10C weapon system. Used Arbortext and Isodraw to add changes and illustrations to maintenance manuals, flight manuals, and IPB's (Illustrated Parts Breakdowns) to aid maintainers, and pilots on how to effectively use and support this system.

Wing Replacement Modification

(7 months) Wing damage began to appear on A-10 aircraft in Afghanistan because of heavy use. Re-engineering of the wing occurred. Used IsoDraw, Arbortext, and engineering drawings to create new maintenance manuals, wire lists, and wiring diagrams.

A-10C Block Cycle Updates

(37 months) Used Arbortext, IsoDraw and Photoshop to update manuals with changes requested by the field and Equipment Specialists. Created change packages to be delivered to the field and electronic deliveries for eTO's (Electronic Technical Orders).

During this time:

Awarded the Customer Support Award 2008
Attended multiple technical order rewrites, dealing with Air Force personnel and contractors to streamline manuals directly related to the A-10 airframe, the largest of which was the Weapons Loading Manuals (33 series). The 33 series of manuals from the late 90's had fallen into disrepair and I was tasked with rewriting them. I also added 2 new checklists for weapons systems that had yet to be documented. Received personal accolades from Len Mian, A-10 TOMA Hill AFB.

Nominated for Innovator of the Year 2009, 2010
Created a TCTO application that helped improve lines of communication between Hebco Inc. and its customers.

(Hill AFB and Tinker, AFB.) Editing and updating Illustrations and Photographs using IsoDraw, Photoshop, and Illustrator for the United States Air Force and its allies.

Conversion A-10A to A-10C
Converted/Updated all of the A-10A/OA-10A manuals to create a set of manuals for the A-10C, the newest version of the weapon system. Used Epic Editor, a precursor to Arbortext, to layout the manuals in SGML. Converted the current SGML of the A-10A from a legacy DTD to a New Acquisition DTD. Used current Mil-Spec to create TMSS compliant SGML.

Hazmat Replacement and reorganization (E-3)
Used Aldus/Adobe PageMaker to create specific pages of manuals for review to remove environmentally hazardous materials from the procedures of the E-3 platform.

Manual rewrite (C-130) Reformat of C-130 manuals. Was tasked with reformatting all of the C-130 skin and support structure's IPB (Illustrated Parts Breakdown) using PageMaker. The project took 6 months to layout and add edits to the 4,500 page manual in Aldus PageMaker. F-4 Digitization(12 months) Used Aldus PageMaker to recreate all manuals associated with the F-4 weapon system before aircraft was to be removed from the inventory. Finished the project one month early to allow the United States Airforce to finish the mothball process early.
