I am a hardworking, motivated, inspiring coach looking forward to selecting an elite coaching staff, evaluating players and building a program that will drive us into the next 100 years. I have over 16 years of experience in various organizations from youth football to the college level. Additionally, I played 4 years of college football at both William Paterson University and Rowan University.
I look forward to developing talented players into exceptional athletes and even better people off the field. I consider myself an excellent leader with experience in the field of coaching as well as in the field of law enforcement. I have a proven history of coaching successful teams with innovative approaches, bringing experience guiding and mentoring athletes to reach optimum potential. I am passionate about mentoring athletes both on and off the field. This investment in our student athletes will only build team chemistry and allow our culture to blossom into a new era of Prof football.
I consider my professional experience an asset that will allow me to recruit a staff of coaches that will hold themselves to the same high standard we will hold our players to. I look forward to working with university leadership to expand the reach of our team past the lines on the field and into the community, state and beyond. That will start with the kind of people we will have on staff, resources allocated for our program and the players we invite to be apart of our family.
Over the last six years I have had the opportunity to be an assistant coach here at our university. I have worked in all three phases of the game spending most of my time on the defensive line as an assistant and now being the head defensive line coach. I spent one year on the offensive side of the ball as our tight ends coach. I have assisted our special teams by working directly with the long snappers and assisting when needed in all areas of special teams. My ability to work with coaches from all areas of our staff has given me the unique ability to bring our staff closer together and improve communication. I have built great relationships within our team, which has given me the honor of earning the trust of our student athletes and given me the ability to mentor them in life both on and off the field. I have had the opportunity to help players like Kevin Stokes, David Gajderowicz, Ahmad Gantt, Joshua Ortiz and Carter Williams amongst others earn all conference honors.
I am currently employed as a Staff Sergeant with the New Jersey State Police. I have been in a supervisory position for the last 9 years of my career. During my time as a Trooper I have had the opportunity to not only learn and grow as a Trooper, but also as a person. A career in law enforcement relates to the team concepts I learned playing and coaching football over the last 20 years. It is the values and morals instilled by my parents coupled with the discipline and life lessons learned through football that I feel are directly responsible for my professional success. Through my job in the New Jersey State Police and more specifically as a Staff Sergeant, I have had the opportunity to manage personalities to get the most from my Troopers, evaluate performance, schedule Troopers for various training and work related events, all while instilling a team first, family atmosphere in young men and women very close in age to our student athletes at Rowan University.
My position within the State Police is truly a unique one in which I not only supervise, but also mentor troopers through their careers as well as through their personal lives. It is extremely important to me that my troopers not only know I care, but have a clear plan on how to optimize their careers through goal setting and self evaluation. This valuable experience not only has helped me in my coaching career, but will only be magnified as Head Coach.
I was fortunate to coach at my alma mater for seven years. I was first hired under Coach Chuck Smith in 2011 and after he left I was retained by the next head coach, Eric Anderson (2016). I started as a volunteer Freshman football coach and worked my way up to being a full time coach, in charge of the offensive line over the last two years.
While at Oakcrest I assisted with the offensive and defensive lines. The last two years as head offensive line coach I was directly involved in blocking schemes, offensive strategy, practice planning and the intricacies and techniques involved with playing the offensive line. I had the honor of coaching a talented group of young men, four of which earned All Conference honors under my tutelage. It is my belief that as an offensive lineman you must be intelligent, selfless players, but have a willingness to be the most intense player on the field. Over the last seven years I have been the assistant defensive line coach, assisting with the installation of the defensive scheme, teaching technique and instilling the tenacity that it takes to play the defensive line. During my tenure as assistant defensive line coach I have had the honor of coaching several All Conference honorees and seeing several of my players off to college to continue their playing careers.
Shortly after my graduation from Rowan University I applied to and was hired by the City of Northfield. While attending the Atlantic County Police Academy for the City of Northfield I was voted the best boxer in the class, as well as being awarded the marksmanship award for having the highest firearms proficiency in the class. The experience I gained during my time in the City of Northfield was invaluable to my professional career and personal life
While finishing my college education at Rowan University I was hired as the head offensive line coach/assistant defensive line coach at nearby Clayton High School under then Head Coach Steve Everette. My first coaching opportunity was a learning experience. The lessons learned under Coach Everette have propelled me throughout my coaching career and he continues to be someone I call on to this day.
