  • Provide early counseling intervention, academic tracking, and follow-up contact with underrepresented and first-genration medical students to develop a support system
  • Develop programs to promote academic achievement and personal development at all levels of the Health Careers Pathway program
  • Assist in the coordination of programs and communication with community colleges and undergraduate health education and training pathway programs throughout the region
  • Coordinate programs that offer opportunities for one-on one assistance including tutoring, mentoring, academic enrichment, and shadowing opportunities
  • With the assistance of the Associate Dean for Assessment and Faculty Development, determining faculty development needs and providing programs to address those needs that are unique to underrepresented minority in medicine faculty
  • With the assistance of the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer, developing and implementing mentoring programs for underrepresented minority on the University faculty
  • Working with the Associate Dean for Admissions and the Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration to identify funding sources to provide financial assistance for students to pursue their career goals
  • Serve as an Ex Officio (non-voting) member on the School of Medicine Admissions Committee
  • Prepare an annual budget to support the Health Career Pathways program
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Dean for Admissions
