responsible for monitoring vital signs of patient.
-administration of medication via IV/PO/SQ/IM and evaluation of those treatments
-establish IV access and take blood samples.
-request laboratory and radiological exams.
-monitor and record input and output in patients with renal failure, gastroenteric, and cardiac conditions.
-educate patient and family regarding drug therapy, activity limitations and need for compliance to treatment regimen.
-coordinate care of patient with physicians, staff nurses, dietitian, social worker, blood bank, physical therapists and respiratory therapists.
-document all the nursing activities
-provide wound care per physician orders (i.e. wound vac, wet -to-dry, etc.)
- ensure/educate other medical staff (CNA) on adhering to universal precautions when providing patient care for patients with contagious diseases
-care provider for patients who are permanently disabled or are suffering from extended illnesses at patient's home
-refer disciplines including all therapies and social work s appropriate to patient and families as well as provide coordination of care management of discipline
- develop care plans for other disciplines employed with company (LPN,CNA) to adhere to when providing care for a patient
-performed supervisory visits on LPN and CNA to ensure care plan was being followed and patient was satisfied with care being provided in addition to universal safety/ infection control policies being followed
-initiate insurance requests, organized, and complete follow up reports
- evaluate for any safety hazards within the home and environment
-proficient in working with hospice patients, gastrostomy tubes, catheters, blood draws, and wound care
- maintain accurate and detailed patient records and charts
-provide comfort while developing and encouraging independence
- educate patients and families regarding importance of health promotion and disease prevention
-Assume role as charge nurse on weekend shifts scheduled to work and as assigned throughout the week at Level 1 trauma OR
- Responsible for overseeing work provided by surgical technologists and patient care tech on shift
-Assist in training newly hired nurses, educate newly hired nurse on EPIC computer program
-Responsible for maintaining documentation, which reflects health care needs of every patient, care and treatment provided, patient's response to treatment, and patient disposition
-Coordinate and plan patient care for patients scheduled for surgery
-Works collaboratively with anesthesia MD and surgeon to coordinate surgical procedure and execute in a timely manner while ensuring all legal and therapeutic needs of patient and family are met
-Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the nursing care and treatment for patients in an assigned clinical area
-Help coordinate patient services and care by ensuring continuity of care with pre-op and post-op nursing care team
- Counsel with family members on treatment and conditions of patient
-Perform job duties in accordance with the medical center's purpose
-Pre-operative care, including but not limited to : reviewing orders and physician ordered history& physicals, starting IV's, performing an admission assessments, verifying and checking all OR equipment (lights, suction sockets, monitors) prior to start of first case, assist the anesthesiologist throughout the surgical procedure, collaborate with the scrub nurse/surgical tech to identify patient, surgery, and equipment needed for to safely perform surgery
