Outpatient Surgery
Set up patients rooms according to MD's orders.
Escort patients from waiting area to their assigned rooms.
Perform and document vital signs into the EMR system.
Occasionally perform lab draws.
Perform pregnancy test on patients and report results to RN.
Provide direct patient care and assistance.
Assist in preparing patients for examinations and treatments.
Ensure all medical equipment is properly maintained and sterilized.
Observe changes in patient's conditions and reported any abnormalities to the RN on duty.
Assist with patient transfers from bed to wheelchair or stretcher as needed.
Collect specimens such as urine samples for testing purposes according to established protocols.
Answer call lights promptly and respond appropriately to requests from patients, families and staff members.
Educate patients on basic health-related topics such as nutrition, hygiene habits.
Report any observed changes in behavior or physical condition to the nursing staff immediately.
Organize supplies in order to maintain adequate stock levels throughout shift.
Help create a safe environment by following infection control policies.
Respond quickly in emergency situations by providing appropriate first aid measures.
Instruct new employees on proper techniques of performing daily tasks.
Assist with patient admissions, discharges and transfers.
Record patient conditions and vital signs before and after medical operations.
Look for physical, emotional and symptomatic changes in patient condition and obtained necessary care for medical concerns.
Notify senior staff of patient emergencies to optimize outcomes.
Surgery Scheduling
Schedule elective Surgeries, Pre-ops and Covid testing for two sites.
Answer multi-line phone system and routed calls to appropriate personnel while providing excellent customer service.
Send and respond to emails in a professional timely manner.
Perform data entry tasks to update patients demographics into the epic system.
Confirm all surgeries and vendors on the schedule are accurate.
Confirm patients meet Day Of Surgery criteria.
Call MD's office regarding missing/incomplete legal documents.
Cancel scheduled cases according to MD's orders.
Pre-Op
Answer high volume calls in a courteous manner while providing excellent customer service.
Organized and maintained filing systems for confidential documents.
Verified accuracy of all paperwork prior to admission for processing.
Call Dr's office prior to surgery regarding missing/incomplete documentation.
Escort patients in from the waiting room.
Briefly explain to the patient what to expect during the Pre-op process.
Performed EKGs, phlebotomy, and other laboratory tests as directed by physician or RN.
Label all specimen according to hospital procedures.
Transport all specimen to the labs in a timely manner.
Advocated for patients by supporting and respecting basic rights, values and beliefs.
PACU
Perform EKG's and vital signs on all patients coming out of surgery.
Draw labs on patients according to MD's orders.
Transport patients either back to the units or outpatient unit.
Perform and document vital signs into the Epic system.
OR/Front Desk
Review and confirm all Pre-Anesthesia records are complete prior to surgery.
Putting charts together for the Anesthesiologist and OR Nurse.
Place surgeons schedules in each OR room prior to surgeries.
Inform transporters when to pick up patients for surgery.
Updated charts throughout shifts with current, accurate information to maintain strict recordkeeping standards.
Make calls to bed management to get special beds for patients.
Schedule Add-ons and emergency cases.
Cancel scheduled cases according to MD's orders.
