Semaglutide: A Promising Treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder
- Research Description: With more than half of U.S. adults reporting alcohol consumption the last 30 days and nearly 6% reporting heavy drinking, alcohol imposes a significant socioeconomic burden. Semaglutide, a medication originally developed for obese type 2 diabetics, may offer a distinctly new approach. I designed a study A survey to assess the impact of semaglutide on alcohol consumption and desire. Of those who had reported drinking before starting semaglutide, 21% of respondents (N= 121) ceased drinking altogether, and 88·4% of respondents (N=538) reported a reduction in their desire to consume alcohol after commencing their medication
Scope of Practice and Pharmacology of Dexamethasone as a Peripheral Nerve Block Adjunct
- Research Description: This research project aims to investigate the effectiveness of dexamethasone as an adjuvant in nerve blocks for pain management. Dexamethasone, a potent corticosteroid, has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. However, the effectiveness of dexamethasone in nerve blocks for pain management is still controversial. This will help clinicians in making informed decisions regarding the use of dexamethasone in nerve blocks, potentially leading to improved patient outcomes and reduced opioid use.
Co-Occurrence of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus and Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Case Study Analysis
- T1DM and JRA are both chronic autoimmune diseases that typically manifest in childhood. Although they have distinct clinical presentations, there is evidence to suggest that they may share common pathophysiological mechanisms. The findings of this study may shed light on the underlying mechanisms of T1DM and JRA and provide insights into potential shared treatment strategies. The stu
"Improving Knee Replacement Surgery Outcomes with the ROSA® Robotic System: A Comparative Study"
- This research project aims to investigate the effectiveness of the ROSA® Knee System in improving patient outcomes and reducing operating room times compared to traditional knee replacement techniques. The study will involve a comparative analysis of patient outcomes, including postoperative pain, functional ability, and knee range of motion. The data collected will be used to evaluate the potential benefits of using the ROSA® system in knee replacement surgeries and inform future clinical practice.
