• Take full charge in carrying out doctor’s order; physical/nursing assessments; actions such as suctioning, wound care, colostomy care, tracheostomy care and administration of oral & IV medications.

• Neurological, cardiovascular disease (MI), respiratory problems, gastrointestinal, hepatic, renal, surgical cases, aneurysm, diabetes and its complications, narcotics and alcohol withdrawal, medico-legal, drowning, electrolyte imbalance, infectious diseases such as tetanus, MRSA, tuberculosis, meningitis and rabies, dengue fever, malnutrition, burns, poisoning, anaphylaxis, vehicular accidents. OB cases such as DIC and eclampsia, preterm babies and ect.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leads a team of Registered Nurses, Nursing Assistants in provision of quality nursing care within the unit.
• Ensures professional standards and hospital policies maintained at all times.
• Deals with the staffing and making sure the unit is sufficient with team members.
• Check and maintain equipment, medical consumables inventory, medicines counts and expiry, Controlled drugs discrepancy and Emergency cart replenishment.
• Deals with maintenance issues.
• Assign patient's care to the qualified staff.
• Participate in the discussion and implementation of clinical or administrative issues in the unit.
• Provides orientation, guidance, and direction and appropriate training to new staff.
• Provides on-going clinical education for all staff.
