I worked Primarily on the Skilled Nursing Unit. I was in charge of people who were directly admitted from the hospital for continued Skilled Nursing Care and Therapy. This included those with varied conditions and post op or medical conditions including stokes, accidents, recovery from surgery or illness . I was in charge of daily assessments and administration of medications including IV meds and medications administered by Gtube as well as care related to this such as administering nutritional needs per tube . I had a wide of varied of duties from assessment and during the admission process and continued care to discharge. I worked daily with those in need of care continued teaching for them and their support system and tried to assist as I could by answering their questions or helping them receive thhe resources they needed.. I worked directly with the supervisor for things that needed her attention and was in charge of the CNAs assigned to me and I worked with a team of doctors and several different therapist and social workers during the stay of those in need of our care with the ultimate goal to provide the level of care they deserve.

This was an LTAC unit where I again worked with those with medically or surgically complex conditions that required continued care. Again this included those with complex wounds, care of those on ventilators and a wide varierty of illnesses or injuries that called for a team of nurses and therapist and doctors working together to formulate the best care necessary for their individual needs.

this was a LTAC unit with those who had complex medical or surgical problems. This include those with complex wound care, Respiratory illness with need for mechanical Ventilation, and just about any thing were they needed more complex care than a regular skilled unit could offer. I worked closely with many different therapist and doctors.

I was the Unit manager for a section that included mostly LTC residents . I supervised the CNA and nurses, Made rounds with the doctor. Received any orders, and put the implementation of these in place. Monitored the medications we received and need for reordering these. I also hand wrote all of the medication sheets. I interacted with those I took care of daily and listened to concerns of the residents and their families and staff and assisted with their needs or directed them to someone who could.

I worked on the Orthopedic unit with overflow of Cardiology and Plastics. I did take care of some of those that were there for elective surgery like knee or joint replacement but most of my patients were those who were injured in accidents of some kind, often with multi system trauma. I learned to take care of every IV, tube and drain and body part during my early years as a nurse and think this was the best learning nurse I could have had. .
