Lore and mel mallin Award for Employee Excellence

Lore and Mel Mallin Award for Employee Excellence.

This award recognizes the incredible work you do every day. Whether you’re a frontline caregiver, provide administrative support, intake, accounting, or one of the myriad roles so important to our organization, I know you don’t do this work because it’s easy. You can take pride in knowing the work you do makes a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of local families every year.

You may remember that Mel Mallin and his friend John Shuchart asked to recognize you - the incredible people of Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care - through the establishment of the Lore and Mel Mallin Award for Employee Excellence in 2020. Mr. Mel Mallin and his family were thankful for the expert, compassionate care provided by the Red Team in 2011 to his wife, Lore, the love of his life. Additionally, Mr. Mallin was a longtime champion of education efforts, which are so important to the provision of expert care throughout our community. In 2023 our Red Team had the honor of bringing our expert care full circle in caring for Mel. This fund was set up to continue their legacy for years to come, honoring the care and support each of you provides to Kansas City Hospice.

We're grateful for their vision and his generosity in recognition of the difference you make every day, and I couldn’t be more proud of you for inspiring this award. Please read on to understand more, and consider nominating a team member who you think most embodies the spirit of this award as outlined below.
