• Serves as the Floodplain Administrator for City of Houston.
• Manage Houston Public Works Floodplain Management Office (FMO), which is responsible for the permitting and inspection of construction activity within the City of Houston's Special Flood Hazard Area (500-year floodplain and 100-year floodplain) in accordance with the provisions of the City of Houston's Floodplain Ordinance (Chapter 19) and regulations set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
• Responsible for the accuracy of plan review for floodplain development which results in the permitting of construction activity in the floodplain.
• Ensure that the inspection of construction projects is performed in conformance with floodplain development permit requirements, FEMA Guidelines and the City of Houston Chapter 19 Floodplain Ordinance.
• Collaborate with FMO inspectors to identify and/or resolve floodplain issues and violations.
• Manage the implementation of the City of Houston's Community Rating System (CSR) Program.
• Assisted with FMO's flood disaster recovery efforts, most notable floods are the 2015 Memorial Day Flood, 2016 Tax Day Flood and the 2017 Hurricane Harvey Flood recovery efforts.
• Implemented multiple process and procedures that maximized the efficiency of the floodplain plan review process. This was achieved by redistributing internal resources, resulting in a 366.7% increase in plan reviews (from an average of 300 monthly reviews in 2015 to an average of 1400 monthly plan reviews in 2018).
