I have 21 years in the Fire/Life Safety business. I spent those years with one contractor learning that side of the business. As Vice President of Purchasing and Fabrication for over 10 of those years, I learned how to form relationships with outside vendors. I have spent the past 3 years in sales with Ferguson Fire. I learned the value of relationships and how important having people trust you in day to day business.
-Call on Contractors to find their needs for fabrication and material.
-Create quotes in Eclipse system. Delivery material to jobsites or offices when needed.
-Pulled material needed in warehouse to complete jobs before being delivered to jobs.
-Keep up with upcoming jobs that
- Order all material needed for the fabrication shop.
- Order all material needed for service jobs and deficiency jobs in both the High Point and Wilmington office.
- Keep good relationships with all outside vendors and maintain up to date cost of material to insure estimate sheet for bidding work was accurate.
- Maintain payroll weekly for fabrication shop
- Maintain weekly fabrication and delivery schedules for all Sunland jobs.
- Part of Traction team which was based off of a book that we used to help drive Sunland to be more successful.
- Help establish new work scope and schedules for both 1st and 2nd shift.
- Help identify issues that were causing low moral and make changes needed to increase.
- Work with President of company to identify new opportunities for business and travel to see new customers when available.
- Acted with President of company in meeting where tough conversations were needed.
- Resolve issues between employees to keep President from having to deal with those matters.
- Responsible for getting 30 employees raises for the first time in 3 years.
- Came up with monthly lunch and dinner for all employees to raise moral where we would pay outside catering to come in and we would all eat as a group to spend more time together.
- Learned all the machines and how to work with all of them in fabrication shop.
- Learned how purchasing worked with Computerease system.
- Learned to schedule work based on delivery dates and material availability.
- Learned who our suppliers and salesmen were for each. Started meeting with them to learn their role in our business.
- Worked in Wilmington office once a month to make sure inventory was correct at all times and we kept good communication.
- Scheduled all fabrication and deliveries once named Fabrication Manager in 2004.
