· Coordinated Oil and Gas company datacenter move from downtown Houston into Cyrus One datacenter located across town. This move was to keep the systems operational due to building outages and disasters in the downtown Houston area. This move consisted of 40+ racks of equipment with both networking, storage and servers.
· Engineered and restructured a Houston, TX based company from a 60-physical server infrastructure into a VMware Virtual Infrastructure platform into a Blade Environment to make the company's systems more resilient and reliable for every day production needs. DRS and HA were some items used to implement into the VMWARE Clusters to accomplish this. Maintenance windows were nonexistent for updating physical hardware, as we were able to migrate Virtual Servers to other physical servers in the VMWARE clusters to do firmware upgrades and maintenance in the middle of the day. This allowed for technicians to be more proactive in planning future changes. This Project was due to the threat of hurricanes in Texas. This project also included design and implementation of the datacenter in Austin, TX. Also, a 150KW generator with a 400-gallon diesel tank was built at the Houston, TX office to allow for the office to run as long as possible before ever having to use the DR site in Austin, TX. During Hurricane IKE the Houston, TX office did not have any downtime, while other companies around them were down for several days, thus allowing the 40 remote sites to be able to continue business as usual.
· Building on the VMWARE Platform at the corporate office in Houston, I designed and implemented a Disaster Recovery site in Austin, TX. Using the Infrastructure of SAN based replication technology, the data would replicate nightly. The replicated VMDK files of the VM servers could be brought online at the DR site and tested.
· Design and implementation of SharePoint document retention litigation project. This project was driven to allow legal to put time frames on documents each business unit needed for compliance.
