Vital sign assessment
Going through the process of becoming and being an EMT has opened my eyes, ears, mind, and heart in ways that has led me to seek a higher level of education in the field of medicine. Patients, coworkers, superiors, and life long friends that I made through daily partnerships have all pointed out that there is something about me that does good for others by me just being there. After carefully processing this for years I have decided to believe in myself and reach the levels that have been impossible for my family which originates from the Dominican Republic. Physical Training Assistant is the closer and more realistic next step to what I would hope would be the first of many good steps to get to where I find more peace within myself. One of my favorite feelings in EMS (although this applies to anywhere) is when someone overthought their own transport from the nursing home to the hospital because they assumed it would a painful process due to their condition, but by the end of our time with them they sound and behave so relieved. We did that and I was always told good things about myself that I did not realize until I heard it everywhere I went and served.
