-Acting Head Operator during multiple maintenance turn arounds responsible for leading a team of six operators and the safe and efficient execution of critical path work scope involving a team of over one hundred contractors. The work scope included hot work, critical crane lifts, multiple confined space jobs (some inert entry confined space jobs), unit wide decontamination, installation of new control valves, compressor rebuilds, exchanger bundle pulling and cleaning, repairing distillation column trays and packing, pump replacements and pump seal rebuilds.

-Establish flow rates, pressures, temperatures, and levels according to procedures during unit start up  Monitor and control process variables to maintain optimal process conditions including temperatures, flow rates, pressures, and levels to ensure on spec product and safe operation of units

-Isolate, clean and lock out/tag out process equipment to prepare for maintenance work.

-Perform field walks of isolation points, vent points, blind points, review safe work practices and verify zero energy with maintenance crafts prior to work on process equipment.

-Safely shut down and start up refinery process units by following procedures, communicating with other operators, and ensuring understanding of tasks to be performed.

-Train new operators on assigned process units by reviewing procedures, walking process lines, practicing, and reviewing emergency scenarios as well as discussing the units process design limits and associated equipment and systems.

-Trouble shoot and correct process upsets and equipment issues by using deductive reasoning, trending data, and getting the right crafts and people involved. Safely and effectively respond to unit emergencies and process upsets to protect people the environment and plant equipment.
