  • As a floorhand, my responsibility was to efficiently and safely perform all manual labor tasks on the drilling rig under the direct supervision of the Driller or Assistant Driller.
  • That included the operating of the tongs, slips, and pipe spinners to connect and disconnect drill pipe, tubular and drilling bits or tools as well as performing all maintenance of the equipment of the rig.
  • Furthermore, I had to perform rig up and rig down procedures, nipple up and down and care for the B.O.P system, the monitoring and operation of the shakers and when called up to do so, to assist the Derrick Hand within the mud pit, mud pump and chemical sack rooms.
  • We were responsible for the housekeeping activities on the drill floor including washing, chipping and painting.
  • When trained, we would provide relief for the Derrick hand and the forklift.
  • Reason for leaving - Accepted offshore position with W- Industries.
