The focus is to do as many of the several tasks we can in a day in order to continue the neatness of the houses, inside and outside, for when anyone comes and visits at any time. I support two different households of senior citizens for these job. I work in two locations to clean, move heavy objects around, do yard and garden work, and paint. It teaches me the importance of labor and physical work when it comes to specific projects to achieve the end goal of maintaining an efficient and organized home.
The BCRC functions to support the needs of students, primarily focusing on Blacks and African Americans, through mental wellness counseling, academic and career counseling, transfer resources, basic needs support, and events and workshops. I work four days a week to coordinate weekly discussions for students in the space, offer tech support, and manage the space with the help of a facilitator. Student assistance taught me more about the value of different and collective voices, and the importance of students having an outlet to get their ideas out and have conversations about them.
The Umoja Community is a statewide program that helps educationally disadvantaged students graduate and/or transfer, and addresses students' needs through academic support services and a curriculum focused on Black history, literature, and culture. I work as a community member in the Umoja space three days a week to give counseling opportunities and inform students about the community. As a teacher assistant, I work with students on school and homework assignments, participate in lectures, and help students during group activities, which have taught me how to work with others' work habits.
Academic Honors List at Chabot College (Fall and Spring):
Students who complete at least 6 units of work each semester with any grade yielding a semester GPA of 3.5 or better are noted for academic distinction by placement on the Academic Honors List and notation on the semester grade report and transcript. I was placed on the List during the Fall of 2021 and the Spring of 2022 for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
