I am a student at University of California, Santa Barbara, actively seeking part-time employment to help with my educational and personal expenses. Aspiring to join Starbucks, I have a strong commitment to teamwork and customer service. I would love to demonstrate my ability to maintain academic performance while engaging in work opportunities. Prepared to bring a proactive and optimistic approach to the workplace.
My role at the Island Waterpark was to assist customers as they entered the park. During busy days the lines would exceed 300 guest and my job was to assist them in answering questions, search bags and ice chest, wristband guest who required them. Furthermore, although these are simple tasks, the added demand of people being displeased and unsatisfied intensified my job. Therefore de-escalating issues between customers and with customers was expected of me as well. Attempting to prevent the intervention of my managers, I would calmly and collectively handle situations with customers while maintaining a mature environment. Lastly, regular cleaning of the entrance of the park, as well as our office was expected in order to keep things tidy and neat for an effiecient work environment. The description above also required team work and organized communication skills, in order to execute satisfactory service.
I worked for my Father's company doing flooring since I was 15/16. Despite it being with my father, it was many times more demanding than my other jobs. Doing flooring required work ing very long laborious days. Many times other trades would, so we would work late into the night.
My role was to polish concrete floors or lay down hard wood flooring. This in itself is its own skill, but there were transferable skills I learned. My role required always to keep a perfectly clean station because if something was on the floor while I was running the machine I could not stop to move it and many times this was a job I was doing solo. With this said, I also learned to work alone and to successfully execute my job, this forced me to problem solve and evaluate my work without second opinions. Although I understand teamwork is extremely important, this helped me to learn independent work ethic and self motivation.
Lastly, my role required speaking to customers pertaining to the job; they wanted to know what was happening, how much time it would take, the products that would be needed to properly clean the floor and more. This required me to be educated about my job, about my environment. As well as be well spoken; speak mature and clearly
