I started as a Lot associate and quickly moved inside to become a Lumber associate. Whatever position has my name on it, I go and give it my all. The managers needed help with overnight lumber, so I took the opportunity. It was really due to the fact that it was a higher pay, and I really wanted to challenge myself. I turned out to be one of the best, if not the best, overnight lumber associates they had in years. I got all the work done, and made the store look new again every night. I have to give the flowers to some of the men who helped me get to the level; they coached me up very well. Everything in that store came out to be easy for me because I was able to learn from my mistakes and from always watching others. I never complained about the loads of work I would receive, due to the fact that I saw it as a measure of how much I could handle, always trying to move faster than last time. I would give others a hand, even when I had a lot to do. Then summer came in, and the managers needed help in garden recovery because people from corporate were coming and checking out the store, so they needed it to be perfect. So, they called me. Overnight Garden Recovery was a four-man job, and they only had me and one other coworker getting it done, and I loved it. It was a challenge, but I thrive for them. I did my job quickly and left it perfect, if not close to perfect. Every position I went into at The Home Depot, I gave it my all. The great people who have been there for ten plus years would tell me good things about how I worked. I would ask for constructive criticism, just so I can keep growing. I also, during that time, became one of the best forklift drivers and reach truck drivers there. They would call me to fix the problems. I was the guy on whom they depended when the day was going to be rough. I want to grow as a person and see what more I can do as a man. The Home Depot is a good place to learn about the many various items they have there, and I am forever thankful for what I was able to learn in there. Every single manager at The Home Depot told me that I had a great work ethic, that I was a hard worker, with a good attitude, and, overall, a good man for the team. I left my positions, leaving high standards for whoever is next in line. I left a noticeable mark; that's what I do. These are just some of the daily tasks I would do as an overnight lumber and garden associate.
