
To obtain a career with Cal Fire. Currently working for the California Conservation Corps. 8 months in the program on a type 1 hand crew at the Magalia Fire Center. Position 1st scrape. I have been on a couple fires I have learned so much and have improved physically and mentally on what it takes to complete a fire assignment. Developed a good work ethic and attitude, I feel as though I would be a great asset to any crew that would give me a opportunity to develop my skills and passion.
● Responded to wildland fires throughout Northern California and was able to perform initial attack, catch spots, and construct fire line for extended amounts of time.
● Worked on a CCC fire crew at Magalia fire center for 8 months with CAL-Fire captains & Apparatus Engineers
● Took part in multiple prescribed burns operating a drip torch
● Did grade projects around the community such as fuel reductions and suppression around county roadsides and local community buildings
● Used a wide range of power tools such as chainsaws, power washers, pole saws, weed eaters, hedgers, drills, hand saws. Also basic hand tools such as shovels, pulaskis, rakes and hedge clippers
● Properly maintained and cleaned chainsaws, pole saws and other motorized tools
● Trained new corps members how to operate tools safely and how to keep them well maintained
● Learned the principles of equal opportunity during comet
● Worked closely with Cal Fire employees, federal employees, contractors, and Town of Paradise
● Learned safe work methods and techniques for operating chainsaws and other power tool equipment to have a safe environment for the task at hand
● Staffed for long periods of time and covered behind for Table Mountain Fire Center
