Contributed extensive research in response to Executive Directive 32-City of Los Angeles Language Access Plan, set forth by former Mayor Eric Garcetti. I served as a member of the LAPD workgroup in collaboration with the mayor's office and numerous community advocates to form recommendations within our department to improve the accessability of language services offered to the non-English-speaking community members of Los Angeles.
While assigned to the administrative office, I was one of two Police Service Representatives to attend a four-day workshop held by the Command Officers Association (COA) amongst a small, intimate group of Commanding Officers ranging in rank from Captain III to Deputy Chief. On the one-year anniversary of the George Floyd Civil Unrest Protests, I was assigned to the Operations West Bureau Command Post as a tactical dispatcher, sitting alongside commanders from the LAPD Air Support Division, LAPD Special Investigations Section, LAFD, National Guard, and others. It was my responsibility to monitor multiple radio frequencies as well as the in-room discussions, recording all noteworthy occurrences in chronological order. I was later given a written commendation for my role in this major event.
