Dedicated Occupational Therapist with over 25 years of experience with Pediatrics. Strong ability to collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, parents, and other team members to enhance student progress. I love getting the students to engage in therapy sessions. Their smiles, laughs, and cute phrases make my day!
I have worked in many schools within this district, including early childhood and Kindergarten through 5th grade. I currently work in a building with special instructional classrooms with children with many different diagnosis and varying academic levels. I think that Kindergarten age is my favorite. So great to be a part of their huge growth spurt!
This was a co-op that AHSD25 used to be a member of. AHSD25 eventually decided to exit the co-op and hired their OTs and PTs directly. So, I was in district 25 for many years - but under different hiring agencies.
This was my first OT school job, where I learned a lot about evaluations and treatment skills. I stayed here for a year, and then found a district closer to home. It was a great experience and I learned a lot from my mentors.
This was my first OT job after graduation. Lovely co-workers, who taught me all about the hospital setting. Unfortunately, the patients were just too medically fragile for me. Babies in NICU with Leukemia and adults just after heart surgery hooked up to many wires/machines - broke my heart and I knew I would function better in a different setting. I was only there about 2 months until a school position opened up for me.
-I have also attended extensive continuing ed seminars over the years.
-Fieldwork experience at Children's Memorial hospital (now called Lurie's Children's hospital) and at their satellite clinic in Westchester.
