In this position my main priorities include maintaining the safety and security of the youth and staff at all time. While working all shifts ranging from days to overnights, I completed the different tasks for each shift as well as ensuring all the youth were prepared for their daily activities. Through this, I created great rapport with the youth and staff, was able to lead program with little to no incidents, held youth accountable, and communicated expectations clearly. My goals were to insure youth were well prepared for life after being detained, guiding with their rehabilitation. As well as supervising youth, I booked youth in and out of the facility, fingerprints, paperwork, and completed monthly tactical and counseling trainings.
After working as a food clerk for about a year, I transferred to the floral department. Specializing in holiday set ups, customer service, inventory, ordering, and maintaining the department daily. I took over as the floral manager for 3 months as the main manager was on leave. During this time I assigned tasks and trained others in the department and insured sales and inventory were doing well.
I was located in the front end of the store with my daily tasks including cashiering, maintaining cleanliness of the store, opening and closing tasks, and keeping the front end stocked. While working as a food clerk I was able to move around to other departments which included produce and stocking. Learning how to use a pallet jack on the floor, ordering, and restocking items correctly.
Check IT is a student-led movement at Cal Poly Humboldt that is about creating a consent-centered culture. We work to empower the campus community to intervene in potential moments of harm (acts of sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking). We facilitate workshops focusing on bystander intervention, consent, and healthy relationships. My main role with this movement was facilitating presentations to incoming to students, workshops, and tabling. I met with groups on campus that were hosting events and worked with them to create materials and ways that we could incorporate our resources to fit the event they were hosting. I created all the seasonal merchandise, researched and introduced new ideas, maintained inventory and ordering, outreach.
