  • Responsible for overall leadership of Maryvale's Early Childhood Education (ECE) centers and Nutrition services
  • Core areas of responsibility include: supervision and oversight of based Early Education Centers serving over 300 children daily, direct supervision of 5 staff, overall supervision of 80 teachers and support staff, including responsibility for mentorship, training and professional development
  • Responsible for integration of Title 22, Title 5 and ECE best practices into daily practice
  • From visual supervision to curriculum implementation, Christina has worked closely with program staff develop policies, procedures and systems to ensure that children are safe, healthy, and provided a high quality early learning experience
  • Under Christina's leadership Maryvale has increased enrollment by 70% and increased subsidized childcare spaces available to low income families by 65%
  • Christina is a dynamic force leading PQI and RPM efforts and has led ECE though significant and necessary changes to: increase enrollment, capacity and obtain National Accreditation, diversifying funding sources by acquiring CDE funding (CCTR and CSPP) and an exclusive contract with the City of Hope Medical Center

  • Key responsibilities included: leading teaching staff, providing a positive and safe learning environment for children and their families in a severely low income and underserved population in downtown Riverside, training and professional development
  • In this role Christina reported directly to the Corps Major and Board of Directors, and was responsible for ensuring that there was a sustainability plan to support any deficits not covered by the state and federal contracts
  • Successful in writing grants and securing supplemental funds from private foundations and community partners.

Executive Director of Child Development Programs

  • During Christina's tenure with the YMCA, she was fast tracked through their leadership program working her way up from Preschool teacher to her last role as Executive Director of Child Development Programs
  • In this role, Christina supervised 17 Directors across the Association in addition to several administrative staff at the main branch office
  • Key Responsibilities included: Oversight of General Childcare (CCTR) and California State Preschool Program (CSPP) funded programs, before and After School tuition based programs, residential and day camp programs and unlicensed childcare programs at three Riverside courthouses, and managing an annual budget of just over $20 million dollars
  • Due to the many funding streams and vast service area, one of Christina's primary roles was working together with the Program Directors and Site Supervisors to ensure continued fiscal and program compliance, as well as quality compliance according to YMCA best practices

  • In this role, Christina had the opportunity to continue to grow as a leader, obtaining YMCA Program Director Certification and taking on the additional responsibilities of licensed and non-licensed childcare centers in Moreno Valley, Riverside and Temecula
  • Responsibilities included: 17 Direct reports, including the center directors for all licensed childcare programs, training and development of more than 150 childcare staff spread across Riverside County and working closely with Program Directors to ensure that the day-to-day operations of the centers reflected YMCA best practices, and managed an annual budget of $9 million dollars.

State Funded Programs Director

  • Working in the capacity of Preschool Site Director for the Jurupa Family YMCA, Christina also had the opportunity to take on additional responsibility as the State Funded Programs Director for the entire Association
  • Responsibilities included: Administration of the General Childcare and CSPP program, directly supervising 40 staff members in center based programs providing care and supervision to 130 low income children, ages 18 months to 6 years, in a traditional setting as well as an extended care program that included evening and weekend care funded through First 5 Riverside in addition to acting as the State Funded Program's Director expanding Christina's responsibilities beyond the Preschool to include the supervision of five Latchkey funded programs located throughout the city of Riverside on elementary school campuses.

  • Christina started at Mervyn's in 1996 as a retail sales associate, and joined their leadership intern program in 1998 while attending college in Irvine, CA
  • At the completion of the internship, Christina was promoted to Executive Team Leader where she was responsible for a budget of $22 million, supervising a team of sales associates in the women's, fine jewelry and lingerie departments
  • In this role, Christina was chairperson of community activities, and working with disadvantaged families in the store community led her to leave the industry and pursue working in the social services field full time.
