• Assist neurosurgeon with patient care in outpatient setting. Duties include but are not limited to performing procedures (such as shunt tap and shunt programming) and co-evaluating patients at the clinic.
• Independently evaluate and manage and/or refer neurosurgical adult patients for non-surgical treatments or surgery and other specialties as appropriate; order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribed pharmacologic and/or other therapeutic regimens; consult with supervising physician(s) when appropriate
• Determine effectiveness of the plan of care through documentation of patient care outcomes. Reassesses and modifies plan of care as necessary to achieve medical and health goals.
• Make referrals to other health professionals and community agencies. Admits/discharges to appropriate service.
• Participate in team meetings and conferences to enhance an interdisciplinary approach to health care delivery.
• Participate in research and clinical trial for the department.
• Communicate and dictate all patient consultations and progress reports via electronic medical record (EPIC)

• Develop and implement referral triage process and new patient intake form for the neurosurgery service and multidisciplinary complex facial pain clinic to facilitate patient care service.
• Organize and direct development of multidisciplinary pituitary center involving neurology, endocrinology, neurosurgery, neuro-ophthalmology, and radiation oncology, etc.
• Participate and conduct evidence-based research and clinical trial for the department.
• Communicate and dictate all patient consultations and progress reports via electronic medical record (EPIC)
• Lead APP liaison with neurosurgeon faculty.

• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate and improve wound care throughout the organization; responsible for assessing, diagnosing and treatment of patients under the general direction of the chief medical director of wound care and hyperbaric medicine in Department of Surgery.
• Perform inpatient care and consults within scope of practice; prescribes and manage medications and treatments within the practice standards of wound care. Documents plan of care, assessments and interventions and patient outcomes for all encounters in an electronic medical.
• Identify patient and family learning needs, the need for multi-disciplinary resources and provides instructions and patient education. Adjust content based on patient's readiness to learn in the time allowed and validate patient learning and documents level of understanding and ability to perform. Reviews and updates plan of care as needed. Acts as a resource to others in developing and implementing plan of care.
• Communicate patient status and assess needs to members of multidisciplinary team. Develop an individualized plan of care, in collaboration with the patient, family and interdisciplinary team. Serve as consultant for staff, physicians and patients/families regarding wound care.
• Assist Wound Division Chief in establishing an Inpatient Wound Care Service Line to address delayed or lack of referrals to the wound care experts, inappropriate admissions due to deficient wound care education, incorrect diagnoses and lengthier hospital stays.
• Develop and implement a standardized inpatient wound care referral protocol/ order in EPIC to help streamline and facilitate consult request process for complex wounds in demand.
• Supervise and lead Inpatient wound care team.
• Precepts nurse practitioner student.

• Assist supervising physician(s) in clinic i.e. conducted history and physical examinations with supervising physician(s), referred neurosurgical patients for non-surgical treatments or other specialties as appropriate; ordered and interpreted diagnostic tests, prescribed pharmacologic and/or other therapeutic regimens; consult with supervising physicians when appropriate.
• Follow up postop patients, obtained interval histories and performed pertinent examinations in clinic. Duties include but are not limited to answering calls, prescribing therapies, refilling medications, pain management, filling out disability papers, educating patients with post-op care, and suture/staple removal.
• Participate and present cases in spine tumor board and spine conference; discuss and coordinate care plans with supervising physician(s) and patients; make referrals to other specialties as appropriate.

• Assist neurosurgeon with patient care in both inpatient and outpatient (primarily) settings. Duties included but were not limited to co-evaluating new and follow-up patients in the clinic, performing procedures (such as shunt reprogramming, suture/staple removal etc.) and making rounds.
• Independently evaluate and manage and/or refer neurosurgical patients for non-surgical treatments or surgery and other specialties as appropriate; ordered and interpreted diagnostic tests, prescribed pharmacologic and/or other therapeutic regimens; consult with supervising physicians when appropriate
• Develop and implement standardized neurosurgery pre-operative patient education and pre-clinic image protocol in collaboration with neurosurgeons and hospital interdisciplinary team for the neurosurgery service.
• Participate and assist in department marketing (i.e. developing department web design)

• Independently evaluate and manage and/or refer neurosurgical adult and pediatric patients for non-surgical treatments or surgery and other specialties as appropriate; order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmacologic and/or other therapeutic regimens; perform pre-op history and physicals; consult with supervising physicians when appropriate.
• Assist neurosurgeons with patient care in both inpatient and outpatient (primarily) settings. Duties include but are not limited to making rounds, performing procedures (such as shunt tap, shuntogram, shunt reprogramming, occipital nerve injections, etc.) and co-evaluating patients at the clinic.
• Develop and implement neurosurgery pre- and post-operative standard orders, procedure protocols, consultation forms, and patient discharge education in collaboration with neurosurgeons and hospital interdisciplinary team for the neurosurgery service.
• Collaborate develop, facilitate, and conduct nursing staff education at the neurosurgical and preoperative units.
• Act as a NP consultant for the hospital preoperative clinic design.
• Participate and conduct evidence-based research at the department.
• Participate and complete in International Study of Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms (ISUIA), an NIH funded research with Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
• Develop office phone triage protocol and assist supportive staff with office work flow to provide quality patient service.
• Communicate and dictate all patient consultations and progress reports via electronic medical record (EPIC)

Geriatric Day Hospital (Outpatient Clinic)

• Evaluate and manage frail elderly in collaboration with the geriatrician, psychiatrist, neurologist, cardiologist, gastroenterologist, ENT specialist, hematologist, and urologist, etc.
• Perform histories and physicals, evaluate lab and radiology examinations, and prescribe medications appropriately.
• Perform phlebotomy, IV insertion, dressing change, suture/ staple removal, and 12-Lead EKG.
• Manage and coordinate care with a team of interdisciplinary health care providers, including PT, OT, social workers, and home health agencies.

Neurosurgery Spine Service (Inpatient and Outpatient)

• Evaluate, manage, discharge, and follow up spinal surgical patients preoperatively, perioperatively and postoperatively independently as well as in collaboration with the neuro-spine surgeons, internists, and pain management specialists at both the in-patient and outpatient settings.
• Perform and dictate history and physical exams. Obtain interval histories and perform pertinent examinations on

post-op patients. Order and interpret diagnostic and/or lab studies, furnish

medications and treatments according to written protocols.

• Worked with neurosurgeons to provide patient care at both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Evaluate, manage and follow up neurosurgical patients preoperatively and postoperatively in collaboration with the neurosurgeons at both inpatient and outpatient settings. Admitted patients to the hospital on emergency basis.
• Provide routine care and management of patients with acute and chronic neurological complaints, in collaboration with the neurosurgeons and through implementation of standardized procedures at the clinic and hospital.
• Assist in pre-operative and post-operative screening and orders, obtaining pre-operative consents, pre-surgical counseling. Make hospital rounds on post-op patients to provide current data to the neurosurgeon. Perform dressing change, staple wound, and remove drainage and sutures, etc.
• Perform and dictate history and physical exams. Obtain interval histories and perform pertinent examinations on post-op patients. Perform or request and evaluate diagnostic studies. Order and furnish medications according to written protocols. Perform designated procedures according to written protocols.
