Experience With Groups of Young People

Self Employed Mentor
Various , In And Out Of The US
05.2014 - 02.2022
  • In Costa Rica I worked at a treatment center for women with drug/alcohol addictions, who also had children under 5 years old. I was responsible for taking care of the children, while the mothers were in their classes. I set up lesson plans for the older ones each day, planned many art projects, and helped with meal time.
  • In Guatemala I worked at a center for children, who were all living in great poverty and with neglectful or addicted parents. I taught English in a classroom for the older children (9-14) in the program. The other classroom was the younger children and the children with mental and learning disabilities. I enjoyed spending time with them, laughing and playing. Sometimes we would play games and I would bring them art projects. I would also attend the staff on house visits. We checked the condition of the home and the parents. Home conditions were very challenging. I felt honored to give them love, laughter, attention, and education. Things they were not going at home.
  • In Utah, I came to schools to teach Fashion. These were seventh graders, in a career class, who learn about different careers each week. I woulds come to teach each class period that day. I tell the students a brief history of my experience and education in fashion and then taught on a topic I believed would engage and excite them for the exercises I planned.
