The program seeks to elevate community awareness of injury prevention and trauma care, thereby decreasing mortality and morbidity rates through enhanced regional trauma care and increased public awareness of the Trauma Center via community outreach. Moreover, the program manages budgets for trauma and Safe Kids 501C3, engages in Capital RAC-sponsored injury prevention initiatives, serves as WakeMed's injury prevention ambassador, develops new health education programs, coordinates injury prevention programs, and documents events and patient encounters in SharePoint.
As Coordinator of the Safe Kids Coalition in Wake County, a role I hold concurrently with my position as Injury Prevention Specialist at WakeMed, I participate in public events such as safety days to deliver injury prevention education on community-relevant health issues. In this capacity, I manage all program aspects, including events, volunteer engagement, and 501C3 financial administration. I also maintain 24/7 on-call availability to assist local law enforcement with emergency child safety seat requests.
Handled external payer inquiries for WakeMed, ensuring accurate and efficient management of patient records. Prepared comprehensive reports on billing actions, submitted electronic bills in accordance with compliance guidelines, and reconciled statements with patient records. Served as team leader.
•In 2016, received the Award of Merit for the Southeast region from the National Water Safety Council, obtaining a $2,500 grant to distribute 250 free life jackets to children and adults. Conducted a ten-week outreach program at the lakes, interacting with over 600 individuals and contributing to a decade-long record of zero drownings at Jordan Lake.
