  • I have spent my entire life around the Great Lakes, from my childhood on Lake St. Clair—enjoying fishing, sailing, and swimming—to spending every summer vacation on various beaches and even restoring a lighthouse on Lake Huron; the lakes are my home. My father, a Merchant Mariner on the McKee Sons, would entertain me with stories of his travels. The idea of working on a ship has always lingered, but I had family and responsibilities.
