Preop/PACU RN:

I currently work in the PREOP Department;

My role is to open the department and perform standard equipment checks required for the day.

Set up department for the scheduled surgeries.

Confirm required paperwork has been completed and patient appropriate to have surgery at the ASC.

Assessment of pt, vital signs, IV’s, assessment of surgical site, pt education given to those requiring special equipment, nerve blocks performed for those required.

Continued monitoring of those who received conscious sedation until they leave for OR.

Perform calls for upcoming surgical patients with arrival times and specific instructions.

• Recognized and responded to emergency situations promptly, initiating appropriate interventions as per established guidelines within the telemetry setting.
• Enhanced patient care by providing continuous monitoring and assessment of telemetry patients.
• Contributed to a reduction in medical complications through close observation of cardiac patterns and vital signs.
• Supported clinical decision-making by accurately interpreting complex EKG data as part of the patient evaluation process.
• Assisted with diagnostic testing and assessments, contributing to accurate diagnoses and appropriate treatment plans.
• Educated patients and families on telemetry procedures and equipment, promoting understanding and compliance.
