Work History

Title 1 Paraprofessional/Special Education Paraprofessional/General Education Paraprofessional

White Cloud Public Schools
10.1996 - Current
  • I began my career in education at Newaygo County Day Care in 1990 and then obtained my current position in 1996 at White Cloud Public Schools. My current job title is Title 1 Paraprofessional mostly at risk reading tier 1 and tier 2, under the direction of teaching staff. My duties include supporting at-risk readers, and during my afternoons I support struggling students in math and ELA. I supervise 2/3rd grade lunch and recess also. Previously, I have held supporting staff positions in Special Ed, where I have been very proud to have been a part of their accomplishments from kindergarten, all the way through their graduation. I recently received a letter from a former special education student and his parents who thanked me for the supportive role I played in his education. He went on to graduate with a 4 point grade level. It was a great feeling that reminded me just why I have worked in education for so many years. In my current position I have created lesson plans for groups for my 1st- 5th grade small reading groups. I have proctored both M-Step and Maps State standardized testing and during Covid, I also took on the role as countywide Maps Coordinator and test Proctor for our students when we were not holding classes. In my career as an educator I have logged at least 125.25 hours of training all pertaining to working with students including but not limited to the most recent training for school safety and the issues students face in school today My other work experience includes 3 years at a summer camp as an assistant cook, head cook, food prep, food service, housekeeping, kitchen and dining area. Ordering, order intake and stocking shelves. Use of campground software, reservations, customer service, sales clerk, office assistance, and more.
