Work History

Supervisory Industrial Specialist

Federal Prison Industries
11.2017 - 07.2025
  • As the Supervisory Industrial Specialist for the Department of Justice, Federal Prison Industries, I performed procurement review and purchasing of all raw materials for the factory. I ensured that the raw materials purchased for the factory were on contract with various vendors. If the material was not on contract, I requested and compared price quotes to ensure that the factory was getting the best price. I worked closely with the contracting officer and procurement officer to request and collect quotes from various vendors and installation companies to establish contracts for products and services. I was very involved in the quoting and creation of five-year contracts with our customers, DLA (Defence Logistics Administration), as well as TSA (Transportation Security Administration).
  • I continually sought opportunities to expand our customer base and explore new product development, in an effort to increase factory revenue.
  • I was the Work Measurement Coordinator and processed all time studies, as well as trained inmate clerks to perform these studies.
  • I created and adjusted all product builds of materials and routings for all current and future product lines.
  • I established scheduling and maintained production scheduling for the factory in a manner that allows for 'just in time' delivery of raw materials, in an effort to reduce inventory levels, as well as 'on time' delivery of finished products to the customer.
  • I am SAP proficient, but I am always learning and improving my skill set.
  • I worked with a variety of customers to determine their needs; I then created the quotes to include materials and installation services.
  • I processed the customer's funding (MIPR) through the UNICOR Customer Service Center for the Federal Prison Industries.
  • I solicited and awarded installation services for the orders at various sites around the continental United States and overseas.
  • As a Supervisory Industrial Specialist, I created and issued performance evaluations to my subordinate staff. I encouraged growth and educational opportunities for the advancement of my staff.

Quality Assurance Manager

Federal Prison Industries
05.2010 - 11.2017
  • As a Quality Assurance Manager, for the Department of Justice, Federal Prisons Industries, I blended skills from a multitude of disciplines with experience and common sense to provide the highest quality possible products to our internal and external customers. I utilized a variety of tracking methods, such as rejection logs, daily reports, historical data, quality notifications (from internal and external customers), and by monitoring production events in real time. This was in an effort to collect important data required to document, track, and correct quality trends within the production environment. I was required to produce accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports of quality trends for the General Manager.
  • I conducted regularly scheduled audits of the production processes as well as the quality program to ensure that the factory was in compliance with NSAI, ISO 9001:2008 and Program Review standards.
  • I was a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt and I utilize LSS methodology and tools such as DMAIC to decrease cost, improve processes and implement continual improvement plans within the daily operations of our facility.
  • I rewrote the FCC Allenwood Quality Manual in a manner that would fulfillall the requirements of ISO 9001:2008, as well as the Department of Justice Program Review 8340.07. Prior to this revision, the three seperate factories on the complex utilized three different Quality Manuals. These Quality Manuals were combined into a single universal manual that applied to all three sites and is still in use to this day.
  • I created and implemented a training program for all new hires within the quality program. This included ISO standards, internal audits, inspection processes, and blueprint reading.

Supervisory Production Controller

Federal Prison Industries
09.2007 - 05.2010
  • As a Supervisory Production Controller for the Department of Justice, Federal Prison Industries, I created and submitted 'Unit Cost Estimates' and pricing for a multitude of product lines on-site, as well as future prospects. This often required me to perform 'Research and Development' on new product lines, with very little information.
  • I met frequently with present and prospective customers to determine their requirements and to ensure that the factories were providing the services requested, in accordance with contract requirements.
  • I loaded sales orders and processed all production orders of all product lines at three separate production sites for the Federal Prisons Industries, at the Victorville location.
  • I monitored and controlled the cost of manufacturing on all finished goods and subassemblies to ensure that factories were profitable.

Mechanic Worker Supervisor

Federal Prison Industries
10.2006 - 09.2007
  • As a Mechanic Worker Supervisor for the Department of Justice, Federal Prison Industries, I supervised, taught, and controlled production in the factory.
  • I planned, monitored, and evaluated the operations of all production lines of the factory.
  • I performed administrative duties such as procurement review and distribution of raw materials, inventory control and tracking, processing of released production orders, and confirming completed operations.
  • I coordinated all production of the factory, processed inmate payroll, and wrote performance evaluations for the Production Foreman.
