  • Worked as lead track Inspector communicating with Central control about our locations. Also reading plans, locating train turnouts, safe spots and redzone areas. We were given stations to walk everyday. I would give a safety briefing to my two to three man crew. Communicate with central and they would give us a time to start walking. We would walked 5 to 7 miles inspecting and making sure tracks were in regulations with specifications using rulers and track gauges. Locating defective ties ,tie plates, lose bolts and also joint bars. Notifying central of power needing to be shut down for inspections. Testing for third rail power in areas where we have to inspect and making sure all crew with me are in a safe place. Notifying management of any defects that need to be fixed.
  • Coordinate operation of a WMATA track test car and uses the information produced to detect, locate and evaluate deviations in cross-level, gage and profile of track. Perform on-ground inspections where defects are indicated to determine the seriousness of the problems and the best means of correction.
