Sheriff of Franklin County

  • Oversee agency with 20 million dollar budget and 235 employees
  • Responsible for running House of Correction, Community Justice Center, Civil Process Division and Patrol Division
  • Led transformation of correctional facility to modern, evidence based substance abuse and mental health treatment program
  • The result has been a changed climate and culture focused away from judgement and stigma and towards respect, treatment and healing
  • Among the qualified results of this work has been a documented 20% reduction in recidivism in Franklin County.

  • Acted as one of the creators of the first Drug Court in Western Massachusetts at Orange District Court and supervised participants in that program for four years

  • Opioid Task Force of Franklin County and North Quabbin, Co Chair, Co Chair of this community based task force created in 2013 to combat the growing overdoses and deaths related to heroin and opioids in our community. This group led to the establishment of several strategies among housing, healthcare, employment and education to take a multipronged approached to supporting members of our community suffering from addiction and their families.
