Accomplished Engineer/Pilot with a robust career at Kirby Inland Marine, showcasing expertise in marine engine repair and leadership. Excelled in roles from deckhand to pilot, mastering technical skills and team management. Proven track record in enhancing operational efficiency and safety, underscored by successful promotions and licensure achievements.
Started with Kirby in 2012 as a deckhand. In this time, I have obtained my DL license, LG license, and wheelman license. Tanked anhydrous ammonia barges for around four years. Then I got promoted to chief engineer. I was an engineer for eight years on several different boats, and I went through many shipyards for scheduled maintenance and overhauls. In this time, I worked around EMDs, Cummins, and John Deere engines. I also have experience with different air systems for gearboxes, as well as throttles. I have had a lot of experience with problem-solving, as well as leadership, running the engine room, and maintaining the deck. To further my career even more, the last two years I have been working on getting my wheelman license. I was recently promoted to a tugboat pilot, holding my own watch. This new position as a pilot I am in holds a lot of responsibility for day-to-day task on the boat. I take care of and oversee the entire vessel as well as the crew while on watch.
