Notable Contributions

  • Authored a white paper to congress outlining the development of the nation’s first emergency preparedness partnership among a military, federal, and private healthcare organization, which resulted in the procurement of $14 million in congressionally earmarked funding.
  • Hand selected as the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Patient Movement Director for the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). Coordinated the relocation of 13 inpatient units and movement of 144 patients during renovation, and led a team of 200 personnel executing the final transport of 24 inpatients to WRNMMC upon the closure of Walter Reed Army Medical Center on 28 August 2011.
  • Directed all Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) planning and preparedness initiatives from Oct 2014 through Feb 2015 resulting in the hospital receiving designation as a Tier One Ebola Treatment Facility by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and designation by the State of Maryland as a Maryland High Risk Person Under Investigation (PUI) receiving facility.
  • Coordinated all training and logistical support for over 100 medical personnel assigned to five Medical Aid Stations along the parade route for the 2017 Presidential Inauguration.
  • Directed all COVID-19 planning initiatives from January 2019 to October 2020. Established a Centralized Screening Area and Access Control Plan; worked with regional partners to develop Surge Capacity/Bed Expansion Plan; established a Mass Vaccination Site responsible for the screening and vaccination of over 18,000 beneficiaries, and coordinated planning with the United States Secret Service for the COVID-19 President of the United States admission to WRNMMC in October 2020.
  • Coordinated Mass Care planning initiatives in support of Operations Allies Refuge (OAR) from August to October 2021, resulting in a total of 241 Afghan evacuees received at WRNMMC, to include 69 inpatients, 172 family members and over 2400 outpatient visits for follow-up care.
