- I have learned how to run every piece of equipment in the job. I worked in utility for a year and half and learned a lot of experience in the plant. My accomplishments in everything have made me dependable among managers. My shift managers call me if anyone calls out or if they need me to come in early. I have worked all different shifts and hours of the job; 8 hours to 10 & 12 hours, and sometimes an 8-hour turnaround to work an 8,10,12-hour shift.
- Maintenance
- Pellet mills
- When working in the mills I work on running 3 mills. I learned how to break them down and change the dies, put new ones on and varied sizes to run the feed. I had to use various wrenches and torque wrenches to spec. Also, some of the sensors would cause problems where I would have to remove and replace them. Some of the mills I must use a forklift to lift the dies and line them up to put clamps on to hold the die to machine.
- Mixing Control Room
- We use a system called repeat and it controls all the equipment in our plant. It controls our mixer and every leg, auger, turn head, and bin, for were the feed goes. I have the computer skills to get everything done and stay running and if the was a problem we must call maintenance to diagnose the situation.
- Packing Line
- The machine we use has a sewing machine and bag hanger all hooked up to 2 scales into a system to the packing bins. I have to get hands on with every machine to keep it running smoothly. I have thread the needles and clean the scales. I also must check the chains make sure nothing broken.
- Pallitizer
- There are 2 robots that I call pallitizers, and I am the current operator. I run the lines and robot all to the wrap machine to the end of the conveyor line. I work on replacing sensors to helping repair rollers and chains also motors. I am not authorized to touch the electrical system only because that falls under the maintenance operators. I do get to help and the knowledge to do maintenance work on the machines.
- With my 9 years I have learned a lot and keep learning new things every day. Some errors that cause the machines to go down I have to call in contract electricians in to get it diagnosed properly to get back up an running.
