As a former collegiate rugby player and current employee of the Carmel Street Department, I possess the physical endurance, mental toughness, and teamwork skills essential for excelling as a firefighter. My experience in rugby taught me to stay calm under pressure, adapt quickly to changing situations, and work seamlessly with a team—qualities that are critical in emergency response. Working for the Carmel Street Department has further developed my understanding of the community's needs and strengthened my commitment to serving it. This role has given me firsthand experience working in high-stakes, physically demanding environments while fostering relationships within the local community. Combining my athletic background, professional experience, and dedication to Carmel, I am confident I can handle the physical, mental, and collaborative demands of being a firefighter while continuing to serve and protect the community I care deeply about.

Playing rugby for three years at the University of Louisville was a transformative experience that shaped me into the person I am today. The sport taught me discipline, resilience, and leadership as I worked tirelessly to improve both on and off the field. Earning the honor of being named captain allowed me to hone my ability to lead by example, motivate teammates, and make strategic decisions under pressure. Being recognized as one of the top 150 players in my position group for two consecutive years and achieving All-American status were testaments to my dedication and hard work. Competing at the highest level and finishing as runner-up in nationals twice instilled a deep appreciation for teamwork, perseverance, and handling adversity. Additionally, representing my region on numerous select-side teams exposed me to diverse playing styles, enhanced my adaptability, and broadened my network within the rugby community. These experiences not only fueled my growth as an athlete but also as a person, equipping me with the physical, mental, and interpersonal skills that continue to drive my success today.
