Accomplishments

  • Expanded the 3D program for Grand Prairie High School and developed a specific sculpture curriculum, upon the state offering it as an elective.
  • Collaborated for 10+ years in our district's Empty Bowls Event. Teaching our students about the value of community service as they learned to make wheel thrown bowls and vessels which, in turn, we sold to raise money for the Grand Prairie Food and Clothing Co-Op.
  • Encouraging greater participation in TAEA Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE), seeing many of my students advance to the State VASE event, over the past 13 years as a high school teacher.
  • Encouraging greater participation in the Young American Talent Regional Competitive Exhibition, hosted by Booker T. Washington School for the Performing and Visual Arts, seeing a marked increase in students being accepted. and winning awards.
