- I worked in all areas of the hospital even the orielly part were we deal with behavioral health patients and we always maintain calm and kept the patients calm and always alert on the patient so he or she was ok and not in danger.
- We always greet the patient and keep a smile on my face and talk to them to make them feel comfortable.
- It was key to notify patients where we were going and notify the area when the patient was there so they wouldn't be unattendant.
- Also when moving patients we had to make sure IV lines and everything was out of the way so we didnt hurt the patient as well as making sure the nurse fills out a transport sheet stating the patient is stable and writing down the vital signs of the patient.
- In some cases we had to deal with c-diff and tuberculosis patients we made sure we wore gloves and gowns when being around the patients as well as cleaning everything for the transport and making sure washing your hands and that way preventing infection for you or the patient.
- For the behavioral health patients we were to always stay calm and make the patient comfortable and smile even if they were being rude and in extreme situations we will be escort by security just in case. The main thing with those patients was to make them feel comfortable and be calm and calm them down without showing any sign of being uncomfortable.
- Also something important about my job that i learned through the years is that greeting the patient and asking how they are doing and smiling is key because a patient is there because they don't feel good and we have to make sure we can help them in any way possible so they can smile.
- Even though we were limited to doing a lot of things i got to learn and experienced several things like vital signs, oxygen saturation, pulse and techniques on how to support patients when moving and especially in the area of rehab where its harder for them to move at first when they just got done with surgery.
