At an early age, I knew I wanted to be in some type of Community based outreach, or public Servant position whether it be in law enforcement, emergency medical service, or even joining the military. I've always had a passion for helping others and serving them in their times of need when they may not have anyone else there to help them. I was given this opportunity in the spring of 2022 at West Blocton Police Department by Chief Josh Horton. It was here that I learned the basic fundamentals of how to be a police officer and was given the chance to become a full-time certified officer with this Department and Town.
In May of 2024, subsequent criminal investigations into a coworker lead to his arrest and the Chief's resignation leaving me as the sole officer for the Town of West Blocton. During this time, with the help of surrounding agencies for investigative procedures and routine patrol, I was able to still patrol and keep the Town in neighborly fashion, with a very low crime rate of roughly 6 calls for service requiring further pursuance. In September of 2024, I received an offer to transfer to Brent Police Department, a Department with proper formality, training and mentorship. Here I learned how to do my job more efficiently, received improved training and overall have become a more confident, well versed, and knowledgeable officer for my community.
I am currently looking to further that knowledge and confidence as well as my ability to serve my community as well as surrounding communities with the application to your Agency. I am still very young in my profession, but display a steady head, calm composure under great stress and duress, as well as the ability to do my job quickly, safely and effectively without the need for further escalating situations than what is needed.
