JOB SUMMARY
24hr shifts, only work 9 out of a 28 day cycle enabling part-time/full time management of the build.
Under general supervision, employee performs supervisory and emergency response work in supervising assigned Fire/Emergency Medical Service (EMS) station and personnel engaged in fire suppression, emergency medical care, administers basic and/or advanced life support to sick and injured persons based on their level of EMS training, specialized rescue, hazardous material response, fire prevention, or training activities, and operates ambulance and assorted equipment. Employee coordinates work activities, responds to and supervises emergency/non-emergency Fire and EMS calls, performs fire suppression, emergency rescue, and/or hazardous material containment in response to alarms, and operates associated equipment and apparatus. Employee is also responsible for processing documentation, supervising equipment inspection and maintenance, performing fire inspections, and performing various maintenance and custodial duties at the assigned Fire/EMS station. Employee is subject to the normal hazards of Fire and EMS work, including risk of exposure to infectious diseases. Employees in this position are also assigned one or more administrative functions which may include but are not limited to the coordination of ordering and distributing uniforms, department equipment and supplies, vehicle maintenance, staffing and work schedules, or other responsibilities as assigned.
The Fire Chief may require other special job requirements, essential functions and/or additional training depending upon the needed area of expertise and Department/Section assignment. In these cases, funding and time off to meet these requirements will be at FREM’s expense. A specific timeframe for achieving these requirements will be agreed upon between the Fire Chief and the employee once the employee is assigned to the specific position.
This position is essential. Personnel occupying this position may be scheduled to work regardless of weather conditions and/or when general county offices are closed.
